NVIDIA seems to be really annoyed by AMD's competition in the mid-range of the graphics card market! So it is possible that there is a new RTX 2060 with 8GB of RAM on the way to the shelves.
After all, we have an ASUS EEC registration, which is undeniably one of the most important NVIDIA partners on the market.
A new GeForce RTX 2060? 8GB GDDR6 card on the way!
So if this rumor / leak is really true, it looks like NVIDIA is trying to do everything for everything to 'undo' the AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT, bringing the 'old lady' RTX 2060 to the same level as the RX 5700 in terms VRAM (GDDR6 memory).
That is, if you don't know, when NVIDIA launched the original RTX 2060, the only available memory configuration was 6GB of GDDR6, coming with the Turing TU106 GPU. Yes, it is true that we have the RTX 2060 Super with 8GB of memory, but this card is already based on the most equipped GPU Turing TU104 that has more SMs and CUDA cores. (Which gives life to the old lady RTX 2070)
Having said all this, although ASUS was the only one to register this curious model, it is likely that the remaining partners will follow the same path in the coming days.
A new GeForce RTX 2060 with 8GB of memory? Do the 2GB more make a difference?
It is possible that extra memory makes a difference in the world of 1440p. But the truth is that this is basically a marketing ploy by NVIDIA to try to put the RTX 2060 on top of the cheaper and equally capable RX 5600 XT. Still, let's wait for the first benchmark results before we start hitting the blind.
