S20 Ultra

Galaxy S20 Ultra: Is it worth it? – After going to a preview event sponsored by Samsung on February 5th to see the new Galaxy S20. And even after having made a video on the joke in partnership with Phone House, due to the launch of these same super Premium smartphones… I still hadn’t had a real opportunity to deal with the Galaxy S20 Ultra in my daily life, just like I did with so many tops in the last few years.

Well, the time has come! I already have the Galaxy S20 Ultra in my hands, right after completing the analysis of the Galaxy S20 +. So we now have the opportunity to answer some questions.

  • What changes between the two models?
  • Is there a big difference for ‘Ultra’?
  • Is it worth giving the extra euros?

Let's try to understand!

Therefore, the fact that this saga of analysis started with the Galaxy S20 +, turns out to be extremely curious. Well, you can finally see what Samsung's big goal is when launching a version even further, in the form of the S20 Ultra.

In other words, just as I said in the analysis of the S20 +, the real successor to the S10 + is not the trendy S20 Ultra, this new version is a go beyond Samsung, an effort to offer something even more Premium than usual. (Hence the arguably abusive price)

Design

It is exactly because of what I said above, that as soon as we took this device we realized that even the ‘feeling’ in the hand is completely different from the usual in the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note ranges. We are talking about a heavier, thicker, and of course .. Larger, thanks to its 6.9 ”screen.

That is, while in the past, Samsung has always given more importance to design, thickness and weight. Here we realize that the focus was on the performance side. So, to make room for the cameras and new 5000mAh battery, we have a smartphone that is actually thicker and heavier. To the point that it is probably too big and heavy for some users with smaller hands.

The rest of the design is exactly the same as the S20 + and S20, with a screen occupying the front (almost) in its entirety.

Photography

Here's the big difference between the S20 Ultra and the S20 +! In other words, while in the review of the S20 + I worried about whether we had the photographic performance of a high-end smartphone here. In this S20 Ultra I will try to understand what we have ‘extra’ after all.

Therefore, we will now set the S20 Ultra against other top smartphones in the market.

Conclusion

It is still too early for me to say that it is worthwhile or not to look at this S20 Ultra at the expense of the S20 +, or vice versa. In fact, it is also difficult for me to say what differences we have here compared to other high-end products in the market.

But one thing I can say, in terms of ‘feeling’ in the hand, I think the S20 + is a lot more comfortable, being a lot thinner and lighter. That is, in my opinion it is not due to the size of the device, but rather to its thickness, which seems a little abusive.

However, I want to hang out with this boy for a while, to see if this is a limiting factor or not for my daily life.
