GeForce GTX 1650 Ultra? NVIDIA has released new card!

by ace

At a time when we talk like never before of the new generation of NVIDIA graphics cards (and its RIVALS FROM AMD), the long-awaited RTX 3000 based on the Ampere architecture… Be that the partners of the graphics giant are now preparing to launch a new GeForce GTX 1650 in the form of the GTX 1650 Ultra!

GeForce GTX 1650 Ultra? NVIDIA has released new card! But Ultra why?

So no one has any idea why this plate was launched, especially at this point in the championship… Not to mention the real confusion that is nvidia’s GTX 16 card range at this point. Having said all this, it seems that the ‘Ultra’ comes from the use of the TU106 GPU (RTX 2070 and RTX 2060), as well as the implementation of 4GB of GDDR6 memory capable of reaching 14 Gbps with some OC.

That is, from now on we will have the GTX 1650 and GTX 1650 D6 both with the TU117 GPU, the GTX 1650 Super with the TU116 GPU, as well as the new GTX 1650 Ultra with the TU106-125 GPU… A ‘hooded’ version of the chip that brings the RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 to life!

In short, we are talking about a card with 896 CUDA cores, base frequency of 1410 MHz and ‘Boost’ of 1590 MHz. Meanwhile, the 4GB of memory are GDDR6, being powered by a 128-bit interface and 12 Gbps of speed (192 GB/s of bandwidth).

The board should hit the market with a 90W TDP, needing an extra 6-pin connector to work. At the image output level, we have DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs.

In terms of performance itself, there is already a 3DMark TimeSpy benchmark on the Internet, revealing that the new board is capable of reaching 3700 points. That is, a 12% increase over the ‘normal’ GTX 1650.

As for the price, it is expected to fit somewhere between the current GTX 1650, which are between 150~200€. (It is necessary to mess with the prices of the current plates)

But does this release make sense in the middle of 2020? Well… In fact, NVIDIA is not expected to launch successors to gtx 16, getting primarily focused on the high end, so… Yes! As long as the board comes at a satisfactory price.
